M had that problem with it. She couldn't cope with the Arthur story (that's the bit in italics, isn't it?), because it comes in little drips and you can't relate it to the main story until much later.

Unfortunately you do need to read it otherwise the ending won't make sense - though I suppose you could go back and read all those bits when you need them. (I quite often feel as if I want to unpick a book and put the chapters back together in a different order!)

Shona's read it already. It's only going back to her because she wanted her kids to read it. So I'm sure you can take your time with it, Vanessa.

It's interesting - Nic, Shona and I enjoyed it, but Sam and Amber didn't like it at all. A bit of a marmite book then?
