The thornbirds, is it good?

Fiction rarely makes me cry, but I shed a few tears at The Art of Racing in the Rain.

Merle's Door had me sobbing though.

It's a good few years since I read it, but I've listed it on my top 20 all time favourite reads. So, yes, I thought it was fabulous. Loved the TV series, too.

Somehow I missed it off my favourite non-fiction book list. It should have been up at the top of it! Ted Kerasote's website is good. There are some wonderful photos of Merle in it.

Well, like Nic, I'm sure some books do make me feel a little weepy - but I can't think of one at the moment.

Just remembered another one:

Jane Eyre - the bit near the beginning when her friend dies at school, it's not so much that she dies, just the way it's written - packs a real punch.

The Time Traveller's Wife definitely did and I think Lorelei's Secret did too, but can't quite remember.

I remember a Lynn Reid Banks book about a fairy (quite vague, I know) made me cry with fear as a child, but I'm afraid I can't remember the title.
